Higher ed’s marketing and enrollment leaders didn’t spend three days in Orlando, Florida just to eat and drink their way around the world at Epcot. They spent it comparing notes on the opportunities and challenges keeping their teams up at night — and many of those conversations didn’t happen on stage.

Volt was there to capture the hallway conversations about what people learned and what they’ll be doing differently when they get back to campus. Here’s what stuck:

We talked to enrollment directors, web strategists, and CMOs walking out of sessions on AI, data, and the student journey — and asked them to skip the polished takeaway and name the thing that actually stuck. So if you weren’t able to make it to eduWeb, allow us to present the highlights:

Jeff Holeman, CMO, University of Florida

Kevin Renton speaks with Jeff Holeman about building a sustainable, strategy-first framework for AI adoption across higher ed teams.

Voltaire Santos Miran, Executive Vice President, Brand and Web Strategy, Carnegie

Louis Miller catches up with Voltaire Santos Miran to discuss right-sizing digital storytelling strategies for higher ed teams.

Maya Demishkevich, CMO, Carroll Community College

Louis Miller joins Maya Demishkevich to discuss the power of collaboration and community in tackling higher ed’s toughest challenges.

Anthony Machcinski, Director of Marketing, Content and Photography, Manor College

Louis Miller chats with Anthony Machcinski about the art of capturing authentic conference moments behind the lens.

Tina Miller, Executive Director of Creative and Communications, Arizona State University

Louis Miller and Tina Miller talk about how Gen Z’s lifelong relationship with video is reshaping higher ed social media strategy.

From the stage, presenters were sharing insights and frameworks to help attendees connect with prospective students, inject excitement into their work, and better explain the value of their efforts to stakeholders:

  • Jeff Holeman explained the creative process involved in breaking into new markets
  • Justin Bell showed how experiential marketing helps Fordham stand out from the crowd
  • DéRecco Lynch discussed how his team was bringing Beyoncé energy to drive massive enrollment growth
  • Samantha Behm broke down how Pitt nurtures prospects from an email address to an enrolled student
  • Staci Grimes explained the Digital Marketing Performance Index she created that easily explains to board members, “Is our marketing actually working?”
  • And many, many more.

If you missed eduWeb, don’t make the same mistake next year – mark your calendars for July 20-22 in Charleston, SC.
