Responsibilities*
40% Story collection, writing, web posting:
Responsible for writing and maintaining content pipeline for all web stories about the department’s research, faculty, students, and alumni. Main liaison for College of Engineering Communications & Marketing news team to pitch stories about the department and coordinate larger news opportunities. Posting web stories and other content to the department website.
30% Social Media and Graphic Design
Content creation for department social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X (formally Twitter.) Maintaining a content calendar and monthly reporting on social media analytics. Responsible for graphic design and video editing of social media content in keeping with the department’s brand style guide. Creation of presentations, flyers, internal screen advertisements, posters, etc. for various meetings, events, campaigns, and marketing efforts.
20% Marketing administrative support
Supporting the department’s communication and marketing team by tracking branded swag inventory, updating email lists, picking up materials from vendors, assisting with onboarding tasks for department members, etc. Responsible for collecting, drafting, and sending of the internal U-M ME department monthly e-newsletter by connecting with department managers and other stakeholders for content and sharing draft with department leadership.
10% Event Support
Supporting events run by the department such as endowed professorships, lectures, team building events, and others. Pre-event support of updating event calendars on the U-M ME website and Happening@Michigan websites. Putting together RSVP forms, email invitations, and other pre-event needs. Writing introductory words for department chair to kickoff events. Helping on the day of the event by setting up posters, basic minimal IT setup (Zoom and mics), and other needs as they come up.
Required Qualifications*
Bachelor degree, and 2 years of experience.
Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

A higher salary may be considered for an extraordinarily qualified candidate.
