Empire State University seeks a seasoned, high-level administrative professional to serve as a key member of the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing (VPEMM) team and to assist in the effective operation of the VPEMM Office.

The Assistant to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing (VPEMM) works under the direction of the VPEMM and employs considerable independent judgment, discretion, and authority. The purpose of the role is to support the strategic initiatives of the enrollment management team by facilitating effective communication, data analysis and enhancing operational efficiency. The position requires strong alignment with Empire State University’s mission, values, strategic plan, strategic enrollment management plan as well as demonstrated success, sound judgment, and flexibility working in a complex, fast- paced environment. Attention to detail and the ability to interact with senior administrators and partner agencies are critical.

This position is responsible for advancing the work of the VPEMM and Office of Enrollment Management and Marketing (OEMM) and ensuring operational efficiency and effectiveness while sustaining a culture of service and professionalism. The Assistant to the VPEMM will oversee administrative, enrollment and operational activities for OEMM and will manage projects and serve as a confidential advisor regarding personnel, internal strategies, data analysis and interpretation, etc.

Responsibilities Include

  • Effectively interacting, in writing and in person, with a wide variety of stakeholders, including executive level personnel, external stakeholders, and colleagues.
  • Drive problem de-escalation and resolution related to OEMM matters.
  • Ensure OEMM strategic planning and project initiatives are in alignment with the university’s strategic plan and strategic enrollment management plan.
  • Work with appropriate division to assist in moving partnerships through development as needed.
  • Manage and direct a variety of projects, such as tracking the progress of the strategic enrollment management plan, on behalf of the VPOEMM, tracking progress and deliverables. Develop and maintain a project inventory that clearly defines purpose and scope and activities required for full implementation – with the ability to provide daily, weekly, or monthly status reports.
  • Identify and act upon opportunities for process improvement in the office of enrollment management and marketing.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of eight years progressively responsible office management positions, including direct support of high-level administrators or executives.
  • A minimum six years of experience directly supporting high level administrators or executives.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently, establish priorities and use discretion.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information (mission, values, strategic plan, strategic enrollment management plan) and apply it to advancing the missions of OEMM.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education administration.

Special Information

  • The position can be located in New York City (4 Park Ave), Rochester, Saratoga Springs, or Yonkers.
  • Ability to travel throughout New York State as needed.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends will be required to fulfill university-wide commitments.

Additional Information

Rank/Salary: This is a Management/Confidential position. Salary range $80,000 – $90,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
