What We’re Looking For

Baylor University is seeking an Assistant Director of Study Abroad to support the mission and vision of the University within the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) by enhancing the educational experience of Baylor students through international opportunities. This position operates under the supervision of the Director of the Office of Study Abroad and is responsible for Leadership and Strategic Initiatives, Program Management and Evaluation, and Student Support.

A Bachelor’s Degree and three years of relevant work experience in an advising capacity in a higher education setting, with experience in study abroad, and intercultural settings, or related fields is required. A Master’s Degree and five years of relevant work experience in international education, specifically study abroad, with management experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of one another.

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.

What You Will Do

  • The Assistant Director will assume a leadership role overseeing a distinct unit in Study Abroad under the direction of the Director.
  • The Assistant Director will lead a team within study abroad of up to two full-time staff members and up to 10 student workers.
  • When the Director is out, the Assistant Director will assume leadership responsibilities of the entire unit.
  • The Assistant Director will also be responsible for leading aspects of the strategic plan.
  • Evaluate program options based on Baylor curricular needs and health and safety considerations.
  • Organize and communicate opportunities to Baylor students, faculty, and staff.
  • Utilize the office’s web-based study abroad management system and help maintain the Terra Dotta system.
  • Maintain data about Study Abroad programs and initiatives and create assessment plants in collaboration with the Director.
  • Provide guidance and continuous support to students on all aspects of study abroad.
  • Train staff and faculty on student support
  • Offer pre-departure guidance and support while students are overseas.
  • Assist with re-entry guidance for students returning from study abroad.
  • Provide emergency response for students when called upon by the director
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
