Summary
The Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing for the Tulane School of Architecture and Built Environment plays a key role in planning, producing, and disseminating the school’s official communications and publications. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communication, this position helps strengthen the school’s reputation and support the student experience through strategic, brand-aligned messaging.Working collaboratively with the Director and the marketing and communications team, the Assistant Director develops and manages content that highlights the school’s programs, faculty, students, research, news, and accomplishments. The role oversees the distribution of this content across all school-managed channels, including digital platforms, e-newsletters, print publications, priority webpages, press releases, admissions materials, and other communications formats.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with emphasis on strong storytelling skills and ability to synthesize research for translation to the general public.
- High-level proficiency in adapting and repurposing content across multiple communication channels for various audiences.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including abilities to prioritize and manage projects, creatively problem solve, and set and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, while also working in a collaborative environment.
- Competency with Adobe Creative Suite and willingness to learn new software programs, as needed.
Required Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, marketing or a related field.
- 4 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in marketing and/or communications in higher education or relating to architecture, design, or urban planning.
- Experience managing newsletters and other publications.
- Experience developing content for Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms.
