The Director of Marketing provides strategic leadership for the University’s brand and marketing efforts, ensuring a cohesive, data-informed approach drives student enrollment, strengthens the University’s visibility, and elevates its reputation across key audiences. This role oversees the development and execution of comprehensive, multi-channel marketing strategies; stewards the University’s brand across all platforms; and leads a high-performing marketing team in delivering innovative, research-driven campaigns.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that advance the University’s brand, support student recruitment, and strengthen engagement across key audiences
  • Provide strategic direction for all branding, recruitment, and reputation-focused communications to ensure alignment with institutional goals
  • Identify emerging market opportunities, trends, and technologies and recommend strategies to evaluate and integrate them into marketing efforts
  • Lead multi-channel marketing planning—including digital, print, email, and social—to drive awareness, enrollment, and engagement
  • Oversee consistent and effective use of the University’s brand across all platforms, materials, and campaigns, ensuring accuracy, cohesion, and strong visual/verbal identity
  • Monitor brand perception and competitive positioning; propose adjustments to elevate visibility and strengthen the University’s reputation
  • Lead the creation, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing campaigns (digital, print, email, social, paid media)
  • Oversee development of strategic marketing collateral, creative assets, and advertising to support recruitment and institutional priorities
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to produce compelling, audience-specific content that clearly communicates the University’s value proposition
  • Manage outsourced marketing projects—including web design, digital advertising, and video production—to ensure quality, alignment, and timely delivery
  • Use data analytics to track and evaluate marketing performance; provide regular reports on KPIs, ROI, and campaign outcomes
  • Analyze market trends, audience behavior, and competitor activity to inform strategic decisions and identify opportunities for differentiation
  • Coordinate and execute market research projects and share insights to guide marketing direction
  • Manage, mentor, and evaluate marketing and creative services staff including the Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist, and Marketing Specialist
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and accountable team culture focused on excellence and results
  • Oversee the marketing department’s budget, ensuring efficient and effective allocation of resources

Additional Skills Required

  • Proficiency in marketing and marketing analytics tools
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a marketing team
  • Expertise in digital marketing, including SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and content strategy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across departments and external partners
  • The ability to uphold human dignity and respect by recognizing each person’s worth, valuing diverse perspectives, and treating others with kindness, fairness, and empathy
  • Must be able to respect, support and contribute to the University’s Catholic and Jesuit mission

Minimum Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business, or related field

Preferred Education

  • Master’s degree is preferred

Minimum Job Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in marketing leadership, preferably in a higher education setting

Preferred Qualifications Years of Experience 5 University Classification Professional FLSA Classification Exempt Schedule/Work Hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours as required. Full Time/Part Time Full-Time Annual Schedule 12
