Job Summary:

This position is a multi-functional position within International Academic Programs (IAP), a unit in The International Division, which serves as the largest study abroad office at UW-Madison. IAP administers more than 300 campus-wide study abroad, domestic study away and international internship programs and annually sends over 2,500 UW-Madison students abroad. The IAP Marketing Coordinator will report to the IAP Marketing Manager and will help support the growing UW-Madison study abroad event and communication needs, including event coordination and promotion, social media marketing, and digital content management.

Responsibilities: Responds to and consults on marketing requests, serves as the liaison to the marketing team, manages client projects, and maintains account relationships in support of institutional marketing goals

  • 30% Serves as a main point of contact and unit liaison for individuals and groups; assesses, responds to, and consults with clients about their marketing requests providing creative recommendations and solutions
  • 20% Maintains marketing account relationships, identifies opportunities to promote marketing products and services to best meet account needs and align with unit objectives and strategic initiatives
  • 20% Collects, analyzes, prepares, and summarizes data and trends, disseminating information to appropriate entities according to established policies and procedures
  • 30% Provides management and coordination to ensure that marketing campaigns meet deadlines and stay within budget

Tasks:

  • Coordinate IAP promotional events, in person and virtual, such as informational sessions, classroom visits, as well as IAP participation in campus wide events and resource fairs.
  • Present study abroad information to a variety of audiences in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Implement and assist in developing a social media marketing strategy to support the visibility of IAP’s programs, resources, and student experiences.
  • Assist with the planning, creation, and distribution of IAP promotional materials and resources.
  • Curate and maintain IAP’s promotional media library in alignment with IAP’s brand and mission.
  • Work in collaboration with the Resource Center Coordinator to collect photos, videos, and profiles from returned students – including photo and video contests, and scholarship recipient engagement content.
  • Support IAP’s email marketing strategy by generating and maintaining email lists, as well as drafting and distributing email campaigns as needed.
  • Proofread and edit communication for external and internal stakeholders including, but not limited to: on-campus publications, newspapers, blogs, and videos.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure effectiveness of events, marketing, and communications, and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Implement current best practices to ensure accessible and inclusive digital media and events.
  • Participate in department meetings and retreats. Assist with special events and outreach activities, such as the Study Abroad Fair.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

Required

Associate’s Degree

Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Art, Design, Digital Media, or a related field

Qualifications:

Required

  • Experience with event planning and promotion.
  • Proficient and polished public speaking skills.
  • Proficient at short form content writing
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred

  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva, particularly Photoshop, InDesign, and Rush
  • Familiarity with AP style
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated experience working independently with strong attention to detail, resourcefulness, and organizational skills to meet important deadlines in a high-traffic, high-demand environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to and experience working with diverse populations
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills, and a sense of humor
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skill
  • Experience with databases and spreadsheets
  • Experience managing social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook)

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $47,000 Maximum $55,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
