Position Summary:
Champlain College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Marketing to spearhead our on-campus marketing and enrollment initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in traditional marketing, digital marketing campaigns, and an exceptional understanding of design principles, website management, systems integration, and project management. This role is responsible for managing a large marketing budget with outside vendors and an onsite creative team.
This senior role involves creating and optimizing data-driven marketing campaigns, tracking lead sources, and leveraging advanced analytics tools to measure and report on campaign performance. Proficiency in CRM systems, marketing automation platforms, and data visualization tools is essential to provide actionable insights and demonstrate the ROI of all marketing efforts. The role requires the ability to integrate and streamline various marketing technologies, ensuring cohesive and efficient operations. This is pivotal in driving enrollment, enhancing brand awareness, and promoting the college’s mission of providing innovative and practical education.
The Senior Director of Marketing must ensure that every marketing initiative reflects Champlain College’s commitment to quality and results-driven outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to increase student enrollment and retention.
- Lead market research and competitive analyses to identify opportunities and trends in the higher education sector.
- Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to inform strategic decisions and optimize marketing performance.
- Manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to maximize ROI.
Campaign Management:
- Lead digital marketing initiatives including SEO/SEM, email marketing, social media, and online advertising campaigns.
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of traditional marketing campaigns including print, radio, and television advertising.
- Measure and report on the performance of all marketing campaigns, using advanced analytics to assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
- Utilize A/B testing, customer segmentation, and predictive analytics to refine targeting and improve campaign effectiveness.
- Manage all vendor relationships to ensure initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively. Negotiate contracts, monitor deliverables, and develop cost-effective budgets without compromising quality.
Brand Development:
- Ensure consistent articulation of Champlain College’s brand and positioning across all channels.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines, ensuring all marketing materials are on-brand and support the college’s mission and values.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create impactful marketing collateral and promotional materials.
Digital and Web Presence:
- Oversee the management and optimization of Champlain College’s website, ensuring it is user-friendly, up-to-date, and effectively communicates the College’s offerings.
- Utilize web analytics tools such as Google Analytics to monitor site traffic and user behavior, making data-driven decisions to enhance user experience and engagement.
- Manage relationships with web developers, designers, and other vendors to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
Systems and Project Management:
- Implement and manage marketing automation and CRM systems to streamline operations and improve communication with prospective students.
- Develop project plans, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure timely delivery of marketing initiatives.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating processes, implementing best practices, and adopting new technologies in marketing operations.
Leadership and Team Development:
- Build, lead, motivate, and empower a cohesive, high-performing marketing team.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, encouraging professional growth and development.
- Represent the marketing team in college-wide meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and decisions.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing, preferably in higher education, with proven success leading, managing, and developing teams and individual contributors.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across traditional and digital channels.
- Clear strategic orientation: The ability to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with the College’s goals using market analysis, trend forecasting, and data-driven insights.
- A minimum of 5-7 years with accountability for managing and overseeing vendor relationships.
- Proficiency in marketing automation, CRM systems, web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, Salesforce), and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Experience with website management, including CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and UX/UI best practices.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and design.
